I've had this one on the must try list for a while now as I have heard great things so decided it was the perfect time to give it a shot. The Little Dessert Shop chain first opened in 2015, starting down in England but recently opened a store located in Glasgow's Dennistoun. They have the option to sit in, collect or takeaway. I chose to sit in when I went however I wanted to also see what the delivery would be like as sometimes it is a completely different ball game. Sadly living too far away for them to deliver I was not able to try this for myself   so thought I would improvise, adapt and overcome. Instead, I got some desserts delivered to my friend and asked her to to tell me what she thought of it as a I trust her opinion (most of the time). This meant I could get an overall idea of how good Little Dessert Shop really was.

To start with, sitting in. If you're into a good instagramable spot this could be the one for you - marble tables and well presented desserts. The store is a 20 minute walk from the city centre or a 5 minute drive/uber, making it relatively easy to get to. As it is new it can still be pretty busy at times so bare that in mind. We were seated pretty quickly however, and our food was served in good time as-well. When choosing what to have I was certainly not short for choice - they have very fancy dessert menus (more like a book) showing all the options. These range from pancakes, crepes, cheesecake, waffles, cookie dough and home baked goods. Most of which come with a scoop of ice cream. Something on offer which is a little different from other dessert shops previously recommended was their option for a sharing platter. These come with various signature sweet dipping sauces, fruit, mini pancakes, waffles, marshmallows, pretzels etc. I thought this was a good idea - especially if you can't decide what you in the mood for.

Sharing platter

Furthermore, all of the desserts can be customised to suit you. The portion sizes were BIG so make sure you have an appetite. We went for the strawberries and cream milkshake which was the perfect combination of fruity and creamy. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience and I will be back to taste test other items from the menu.

As for takeaway I had asked my friend to go for some different options to myself so she chose kinder bueno crepes and milk chocolate cookie dough. The only downside to the delivery was that it did take around an hour to come which isn't ideal if you've got some sugar cravings. Once the food had finally arrived I was sent lots of pictures of it and told that it was super tasty. Crepes came with a very good amount of toppings which made it worth the money and the cookie dough was the perfect size to enjoy without going into a food coma after eating it. Onto the ice cream,  I was told they tasted high quality and complemented the crepe and cookie dough  very well. For being delivered they even arrived in a good condition and represented what the store was like in person.

If this is something you think you'd enjoy I would definitely opt for sitting in - I know I'll be back to try the sharing platter!

Introduction to Skye's Scoop

Hi, w elcome to my blog - Skye's Scoop!  The go to place to get the scoop on the best spots in Glasgow for a tasty treat.  Dessert and ice cream, in particular, for me and many others who share a sweet tooth is definitely up there with one of my favourite things. Whether it's heartbreak, a hangover or happiness, ice cream is always a healer.  With Glasgow being a city full of places to eat and new locations opening regularly, knowing where to go can be a bit overwhelming. Sometimes a point in the right direction is needed - the idea behind this blog. Over the next few posts I hope to be able to give you my opinions and recommendations on the best spots in town for desserts. The focus will be on taste, variety of choice, a little about the brand and the overall atmosphere. Whether its a late night treat, date night or you're simply looking for somewhere new to try, I'm here to help.  Enjoy x

Loop and Scoop

First up we have Loop and Scoop!  address - 665 Great Western Rd, Glasgow G12 8RE website -   https://loopandscoop.com/#about instagram -   @loopandscoop Loop and Scoop originally opened on Great Western Road, situated in the west end of Glasgow. However, in recent months a new branch has opened up in Bearsden, extending their clientele beyond their typical university students. It is the UK's first ever churro and ice cream bar which adds a unique touch. Their signature dish is the Loop and Scoop, consisting of, as the name suggests, a scoop of ice cream with a big loop shaped churro. In addition, they offer a variety of ice cream flavours (take home size tubs are also available) and different styles of churros ranging from churro bites to larger sizes with a side of sweet dips. Milkshakes are available which are made from their ice cream. Something that is particularly appealing about the shop is that they cater to various dietary requirements including a selection ...

Colpi

Welcome back! For the second recommendation I will be discussing Colpi Geleteria.  address - 38 Main St, Milnagvie, Glasgow G62 6BU website - https://www.purecolpi.co.uk/gelateria instagram - @purecolpi Colpi Geleteria is located slightly outside of Glasgow, in Milngavie (only a 20 minute drive, or train journey) but it is definitely one worth mentioning. Differing from the popular newer dessert shops, Colpi ice cream uses an 100 year old recipe which remains unchanged. The premises opened in 1928 just after the Italian immigration making the ice cream  truly traditional. This gives Colpi that extra special feel. Furthermore, their artisan ice cream is fully handcrafted every day in store making it even fresher and tastier. It is also something which is hard to come by these days. Colpi's motto is 'when life is complicated, you can rely on Colpi to keep things perfectly simple. Our traditional ice cream captures the ...
